Implant Restoration in Lincoln, NE

Dental implants are the most natural-feeling, longest-lasting solution available for replacing missing teeth. At Roots Dental in Lincoln, NE, Dr. Amy Wenninghoff provides implant restorations using a precise digital workflow that ensures your replacement tooth integrates seamlessly with your natural smile.

What Is an Implant Restoration?

A dental implant consists of a titanium post that is placed into the jawbone by a specialist, where it heals and bonds with the surrounding bone over a period of several months. Once healing is complete, Dr. Amy attaches a custom-designed crown or restoration to the implant, completing the replacement tooth. Dr. Amy works closely with trusted specialists in the Lincoln area to coordinate your care and monitor the healing process from start to finish.

The result is a replacement tooth that looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth. With proper care, a dental implant can last a lifetime.

Benefits of Implant Restoration

Choosing a dental implant to replace a missing tooth offers significant advantages over other options:

•  Restores full chewing function

•  Preserves jawbone by stimulating natural bone regeneration

•  Prevents shifting of surrounding teeth

•  Looks and feels like a natural tooth

•  No adhesives, removal, or special maintenance required

•  Long-term solution that can last decades with proper care

Implants for Single and Multiple Missing Teeth

Dr. Amy uses implant restorations to replace single missing teeth as well as multiple teeth. A single implant supports one crown. Multiple implants can anchor a bridge or implant-supported denture when several teeth need to be replaced. For patients undergoing full mouth rehabilitation, implant restorations are coordinated as part of the overall treatment plan so every restoration contributes to a cohesive, functional result.

Every implant crown at Roots Dental is designed digitally to match the shape, shade, and proportion of your surrounding teeth with exceptional accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental implant is a long-term, stable tooth replacement that looks, feels, and functions like a real tooth. While getting a dental implant requires multiple appointments and several months to complete, patients tell us their only complaint is that they wish they’d done it sooner!

5 Steps for Getting a Dental Implant

A dental implant consists of three parts: the titanium implant post, the abutment, and the tooth restoration. The five steps for placing and restoring a dental implant are as follows:

  1. Initial consultation — During this appointment, Dr. Amy will perform a comprehensive evaluation and take x-rays to determine if you are a good candidate.
  2. Dental implant surgery — An experienced oral surgeon will expertly place your implant in your jawbone. This procedure is done in-office under local anesthesia, so you won’t feel any pain.
  3. Implant healing — As the implant starts to heal, it fuses with bone and tissue around it. This process is called osseointegration, which gives the implant strength and stability.
  4. Abutment placement: — The abutment is the connector piece that attaches the implant to a crown, bridge, or denture. The oral surgeon uncovers the implant and attaches the abutment to it.
  5. Adding the tooth restoration — About two weeks after the abutment is added, Dr. Amy will attach the custom crown, bridge, or denture to complete your smile and restore chewing function.

Dr. Amy coordinates closely with the oral surgeon throughout implant placement and healing. She will explain all the steps involved and answer your questions to ensure you are comfortable with the process.

I am originally from Minot, North Dakota, and I met my husband, Garin—a Wahoo, NE, native—when completing my undergraduate studies at the University of North Dakota. I graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2012, and we were married a week later. We then moved to Omaha, where I completed a one-year general practice residency at UNMC and the VA, focusing on dentistry for adult patients with special needs, comprehensive dental rehabilitation for our veterans, and care for patients with complex medical problems.

Implants and Restorations Technology

Exocad

Exocad is the gold standard in dental design software, the same platform used by the world's most advanced dental laboratories to handle their most complex cases. At Roots Dental, it's the design engine behind everything we fabricate in-house. A single crown, a full set of veneers, implant restorations, complete dentures, full mouth rehabilitations — if we're building it, we're designing it in Exocad first.

Dr. Amy uses it to plan every restoration to exact specifications before treatment begins. For cosmetic cases, you see a digital preview of your new smile before anything is touched. For complex restorative cases, every piece of the treatment plan is designed as a cohesive whole rather than in isolation. By the time we move to fabrication, the result has already been planned, refined, and approved — which means fewer surprises and a final result that reflects exactly what you and Dr. Amy agreed on from the start.
